Direct quote from the employee: "Tomorrow is not promised, tell someone you love them today."
In order to help you get to know us a little bit better and learn about the fantastic individuals that make up our team, we will be interviewing them and letting you in on their answers. What do they do? What do they enjoy? What makes them unique? It’s time to find out!
For our third employee spotlight, meet CC Holmes. Let’s dive in and learn more about her.
What do you do at our company?
I wear quite a few different hats in my position, from office manager, executive assistant, administration, HR, H&S, payroll, orientation, invoicing, A/R, and pretty much everything else that I am asked to do.
What has been your favourite project so far?
I am quite proud of our H&S program. When I started with Ryan Jones (franchise owner) 7 years ago, I took it over and ran with it. Even though we lost a few times, our WCB premiums are still under the industry standard level. We have passed our COR every external audit year and it just keeps growing.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Normally my bank account motivates me to wake up and go to work haha. Typically, it is my co-managers who make it easy for me to come to work every day & surprise me with what they need me to do for them that day. If I am having a bad day, each of them takes time out of their schedules to come talk to me to make sure that I am ok & if I need anything, even if it is an overpriced coffee from Starbucks. They are my family.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I come from a long line of musicians, but I can’t carry a tune to save my life. My uncle wrote and recorded, The Rodeo Song. Anyone from this side of the prairies knows this song well and will start singing it.
How do you balance your career and your family/personal life?
Most times I am able to keep work at work and home at home. What I have learned at work I can incorporate into my home life and vice versa. I find being a mom of two grown adults that I am able to handle the younger employees easier and with more understanding than some of the other managers. As Walter says, “I am the Mother Hen of Clintar Calgary”.
What advice would you give to other women in the industry?
Keep your head up and be proud that you are a woman who has entered into a typically male driven industry and that you can keep up. Never back down from a challenge and never let anyone intimidate you.
What does a typical day of work look like for you?
Running around with my head cut off most days or in front of my computer with piles of paperwork and looking at the guys from the side of my eyes & slowly turning my head to them when they ask if I am busy LOL.
What are three words you would use to describe Clintar?
Leading, Positive, Culture.
What do you find most rewarding/challenging about your role?
The appreciation I get from my fellow managers & the staff.
If given the chance, who would you be for a day?
I would be my Gramma for a day because she was the strongest woman I have ever known, a pioneer in her time. She conquered so many battles in her lifetime, and still rose above it all.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I would love to interview Freddie Mercury because 1. It’s Freddie freakin Mercury 😊 and 2. That man was so intelligent, passionate, talented, and a human rights activist. I would ask him, “What do we do with 2020”?
What would you like to be famous for?
That I was a great mom who raised two strong, beautiful, successful & independent women.
What inspires/motivates you?
My girls have always been my motivators in pretty much everything I do to better myself.
We hope you enjoyed learning about CC Holmes! We can’t wait to connect you to more of our wonderful team – so stay tuned.
